Waxing FAQ'S

Waxing unlike shaving, removes hair directly from the roots leaving your skin nice and smooth for weeks.

 The Following Steps Will Help You Prepare For Your Waxing Service:

• lightly exfoliate the area to be treated (please note that aggressive exfoliation will compromise the skin and make a waxing service inadvisable)
• Take a mild anti-inflammatory. This is typically only recommended for Brazilian and extended bikini waxes and will help to relieve some of the discomfort associated with these waxing procedures as well as reduce the swelling that you may experience.
• Discontinue all use of retinoids and other chemical exfoliating agents for at least 72 hours. This is very important and failure to do so could result in lifting of the skin as these products compromise the integrity of the skin. This includes all topical prescription acne medication.
• If you are a sunbather, or frequent the tanning salon, it is important to stay out of the sun (artificial or not) for a minimum of 24 hours prior to your service. Waxing services will not be performed if any redness due to sun exposure is present on the skin. This measure is taken solely for our clients' safety and benefit.
• If you enjoy exercising, please do so before your waxing appointment. Exercise directly after is not recommended due to the higher risk of causing breakout.

For best results, the hair length should be 1/4 inches, as long as a grain of rice. 

When in doubt, it is better the hair be longer than shorter.  

If you typically shave please allow 7-10 days between shaving and waxing.

The recommended time between waxing is 4-6 weeks.

A standard bikini wax removes all of the hair from your bikini area that would be visible if you were wearing a standard bikini, an extended bikini wax moves downward and inward from a standard bikini. Brazilian waxing is the most intimate of all waxing services and removes all of the hair in the bikini area and all hair from your backside as well. Some clients prefer to leave a small amount behind and others prefer to go completely bare, the decision is entirely up to the individual. No. This is a complete myth. Waxing, in fact, is know to actually stop hair growth all together in some cases. It is important to keep in mind though that waxing should be used as a temporary hair removal method as the slowing or stopping of hair growth takes many years of consistent waxing. 

If done properly, waxing can be a great benefit to people with sensitive skin. It is much more gentle on the skin than many other methods of hair removal, IE. shaving and at home depilatories. It is impossible to predict who will have a reaction to the wax or any product used. If you have sensitive skin it is very important to follow the instructions in the pre-waxing guide as well as the post-waxing guide. 

I use different types of wax for different services. Most waxing services require the use of hard wax, which hardens on the skin and is then removed. Hard wax is perfect for use on people who have sensitive skin as the wax encapsulates each individual hair and does not attach to skin. For some services provided a strip wax, or soft wax, is best to use. Stripwax is applied to the skin and a small strip is pressed over the top and is removed in that fashion. All of the waxes used are of the highest quality and the results are superior because of this. 

Although there can be more discomfort associated with waxing while pregnant due to hormonal fluctuations, it is perfectly safe and even recommended. Maintaining your usual standard of grooming may be difficult during the later stages of pregnancy and receiving regular waxing services alleviates you of the bother. There are also health advantages to bikini waxing while pregnant due to the greater susceptibility to certain bacterial infection 

Sure, just know you are more sensitive 3 days before your cycle and 3 days after your cycle. If getting a bikini wax service , just simply wear a fresh tampon and take a couple Advil to help fight the extra sting during this time.

Everyone has a different scale for pain tolerance and what is painful for someone may not bother someone else. 

I recommend taking an Ibuprofen or Aspirin roughly 30 mins before your appointment to help maximize comfort. 

Pro-tip : Waxing more frequently will help with sensitivity as hair grows back finer and sparse

• Anyone currently taking Accutane or who has taken Accutane at any time within the past 6 months.
• Anyone who has an active Herpes outbreak
• Anyone with a sunburn on the area to be treated
• Anyone who has had a chemical peel over the treatment within the past 7 days
• Anyone who has used any type of Retinol within the past 36 hours over the treatment area
• Any area of the skin showing signs of trauma, varicose veins, open or active acne lesions, eczema, psoriasis or any type of dermatitis will not be waxed
